Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Limited, has urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to make excellent use of social media to benefit themselves. He called it tragic that Ghanaian Youth are hypnotised by modern technologies.
According to him, social media platforms like Facebook, tiktok, and Instagram can be used in a variety of ways to improve our lives, but the youth are now misusing them.
He emphasised that the Chinese who inverted Tiktok use it to educate themselves, but it is unfortunate that Ghanaians use it for photoshoots in which they expose their breasts and buttocks.
“If you take Tiktok, it was flipped by the Chinese; they use it to educate themselves; we use it to conduct photo shoots; instead of utilising it to better ourselves, to gain more skills, a better understanding, and how to make a life, we use it for ridiculous things. In an interview with Adubia TV, the former Member of Parliament and candidate for Mayor of Kumasi said, “Show your breast, back, this kind of stupidity.”
Mr. Kofi Jumah noted that it is critical for young people to read more and learn more about how the world is changing in order to connect with others.
‘It pained me because many of our youth are not well-informed; you see, we live in an age where the more information you have, the better you are and the higher your prospects of success in life. I don’t think there is adequate information flow among our kids; they have the gadgets, but they have been hypnotised, so they can’t even use these gadgets to benefit themselves.” He stated.
“But more is because of ignorance that they are not well exposed, they don’t have enough information about what is going on in the world, they don’t have information about what is even going on around them, they don’t even have a good understanding of themselves and that is my worry.” He lamented.
