With his signature wit, Kartel joked that fans might need to make a “drastic sacrifice”—perhaps “selling an organ or two”—to secure tickets for the highly anticipated show.
“I’ve heard the cries of my fans for a comeback concert, and we’re making it happen,” Kartel declared.
The announcement comes on the heels of Kartel’s release from prison on July 31, following the Jamaica Court of Appeal’s decision to free him and his three co-defendants—Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John. The court ruled against a retrial in the murder case of Clive “Lizard” Williams, citing insufficient grounds for a new trial and considering the psychological and financial impacts on the appellants, including Kartel’s health.
After spending years behind bars since their arrests in 2011 and their subsequent conviction in 2014, the four men have finally regained their freedom. Fans across Jamaica, the Caribbean, and beyond are now eagerly anticipating Vybz Kartel’s return to the stage, with the December 2024 concert set to be a landmark event in the dancehall scene.
