The NDC plans to boost Ghana’s digital economy by promoting tech businesses, launching a $50M FinTech Growth Fund, and advancing green technology initiatives.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined a comprehensive plan to promote technology-based businesses and position Ghana among the leading nations in the 4th industrial revolution. These initiatives were highlighted in the party’s manifesto, launched over the weekend in Winneba, Central Region.
Central to the NDC’s tech agenda is the promotion of app development, e-commerce platforms, FinTech, and other digital services. The party aims to create an environment where digital entrepreneurs can thrive, ensuring Ghana’s place in the rapidly evolving global digital economy.
In a move to support the growth of local FinTech companies, the NDC plans to establish a $50 million FinTech Growth Fund. This fund is designed to nurture and promote indigenous digital entrepreneurs, providing them with the financial backing needed to scale their businesses and innovate within the sector.
The NDC also reaffirmed its commitment to training over one million youth in coding, equipping them with the skills necessary to participate in and drive the digital transformation. This initiative is expected to create a skilled workforce capable of contributing to the nation’s technological advancement and economic growth.
In line with global trends towards cleaner energy, the NDC proposes to leverage green technologies for entrepreneurship. The party plans to promote the assembly and use of electric vehicles, as well as the adoption of clean energy solutions for both commercial and residential use. This transition towards green technology is intended to align Ghana with international efforts to combat climate change while simultaneously fostering new business opportunities in the energy sector.
