With just a day to Ghana’s critical presidential and parliamentary elections, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is brimming with confidence and enthusiasm.
Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, the Middle-Belt Campaign Coordinator for Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has made a bold prediction, forecasting a commanding performance in the middle belt regions. According to him, the party is set to win 99 parliamentary seats, including 15 in new constituencies.
Speaking during the climax of the NPP’s campaign in Kumasi, the Effiduase-Asokore MP expressed optimism about a decisive victory. “We have put all the necessary structures in place to secure a resounding win in both the presidential and parliamentary elections,” he stated.
Hon. Ayew Afriyie highlighted the party’s strategic approach, emphasizing five key indicators fueling their optimism. Among these is the party’s target to flip strategic constituencies, such as the Tain Constituency—home to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
“We can state emphatically that after an exhaustive and comprehensive campaign across all the 6 regions, the NPP is set to win a total of 99 seats in Ashanti, Eastern, Bono East, Ahafo, Western North and Eastern Regions,” he confidently predicted.
Acknowledging challenges faced during the campaign, Hon. Ayew Afriyie credited Vice President Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team for their resilience and dedication.
He also projected that the NPP would secure over 51% of the total votes, attributing this to the party’s “solid and time-tested policies and programs” which, he argued, resonate more with Ghanaians than the opposition’s campaign.
Reassuring voters about security, Hon. Ayew Afriyie urged citizens to confidently participate in the electoral process. “We want to assure all Ghanaians, especially voters in the 6 regions under the middle belt zone that they have nothing to worry about because their security is fully assured. They must go to their polling stations and cast their ballots for the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia without fear or intimidation,” he affirmed.
