The Accra High Court has lowered the bail amount for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), from GHS120 million to GHS80 million.
However, his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, still faces a bail set at GHS80 million, with the added requirement that two sureties must be justified. Both are required to check in with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times weekly, and any travel will need prior approval from EOCO.
The couple was detained as EOCO investigates allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions. Adu-Boahene, who led the NSB from 2017 until February 2025, is accused of siphoning millions of Ghanaian cedis of state funds into personal accounts.
In response to the ruling, the couple’s lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, expressed confidence that his client would comply with the updated bail terms.
