alleged to have set fire to her ex-boyfriend’s personal belongings and subsequently stabbed him during a confrontation at Race Course, Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, who had previously been in a relationship with the victim, Emmanuel Otabil, 30-year-old and a driver, visited his residence unannounced on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at about 9:00 am.
In a statement issued by the Police on Wednesday, July 2, Ms. Juliana Obeng [Supt], Head of Public Affairs, Greater Accra Region, said that, upon seeing the victim with another woman, Augustina allegedly poured a bucket of water on them and took the victim’s Samsung mobile phone before leaving.
“Later the same day at around 4:00 pm, the suspect reportedly returned to the victim’s residence in his
absence. Using a duplicate key, she gained access to the kiosk and set fire to several items, including a
mattress, carpet, blankets, and bedsheets.”
The victim, who was initially rushed to Race Course Hospital, was later transferred to Lapaz Community
Hospital and then to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he underwent emergency surgery.
He is currently on admission and responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, police investigations led to the retrieval of the victim’s phone from the suspect, who was arrested at Tesano Police Station, where she had earlier attempted to submit a medical report in connection with a separate assault complaint against the victim.
The case remains under investigation.
