Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) previously tried to suppress his outspoken nature by offering him a government-related position.
During an appearance on Channel One TV’s Upside Down show on Sunday, May 4, A Plus recounted how the party assumed his criticism would lessen once he was given a role, but his continued outspokenness ultimately led to the termination of his appointment.
“The problem with the NPP is that they gave me a job expecting that now that you are eating, don’t talk. But they didn’t tell me that when they were giving me the job. I like talking more than eating,” he said.
He disclosed that the position involved oil lifting operations at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). However, his persistent public criticism of the government soon raised concerns among party officials.
“One or two months into the business, they said I was talking too much. So they took the job away. As for pay, I got only one month,” he added.
