Former President John Dramani Mahama has addressed President Akufo-Addo’s recent slip of the tongue, where he mistakenly mentioned Mahama’s name instead of that of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The error occurred during a recent event, where the President inadvertently referred to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer instead of his party’s own candidate. Similarly, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, made a comparable mistake.

Speaking at a Youth Forum organized by the NDC in Ho on Tuesday, Mr. Mahama suggested that the President’s slip might be a sign of a future vision, hinting at his possible return to the presidency. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, and so when the president goes and he’s talking about his administration and he says Akufo-Addo/Mahama administration, this is unpardonable. It means he dreamt about me the night before. And it’s not only him, even his Ashanti chairman,” he said.

The NDC flagbearer implied that these slips from his political opponents could be seen as inadvertent endorsements and encouraged voters to support him in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

“We can read their minds from what they are thinking and what they are dreaming about. The time has come for us to take our destiny into our own hands,” Mr. Mahama added.
