Bangladesh’s parliament was dissolved following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and departure.
The president’s administration issued a statement announcing the dissolution of the country’s parliament.The demonstrators’ demands include the dissolving of Bangladesh’s parliament.
Following the violent demonstration that led to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, Waker-Uz-Zaman, Bangladesh’s Army leader, declared the formation of an interim administration.
However, student demonstrators have rejected the military-led government.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has accepted to serve as top adviser to a temporary administration in Bangladesh, after a plea from students.”When the students who sacrificed so much are requesting me to step in at this difficult juncture, how can I refuse?” Mr Yunus spoke.Ahmad Bin Quasem, a Bangladeshi opposition activist and lawyer who was purportedly kidnapped under Sheikh Hasina’s administration, has now been released.
Ahmed Bin Quasen’s lawyer, Michael Polak, made the announcement on X.
“Since 2016, @tobycadman and I have been working on the case of Ahmad Bin Quasem, Arman, who was unlwafully seized from his family and held incommunicado in secret detention facilities.” The lawyer wrote.”I woke up this morning to news that, following the overthrow of Ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasin by #Bangladeshstudentprotest, Arman was released to his family and he is now with them, including his two daughters, one of whom was only 1 years old when he was abducted.” He added.
The lawyer thanked everyone who assisted his client get out of custody.
“Thank you to everyone who helped both publicly and behind the scenes to #FreeArman” added the politician.
Khaleda Zia, the opposition leader, has also been released.
