The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that members of the Black Stars technical team were involved in a road accident earlier today while traveling back to Accra from Tarkwa. The team had been on an official assignment to observe the Champion of Champions match between FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC.
The accident occurred when the vehicle, a Land Cruiser with registration number GR 6521-21, carrying Head Coach Otto Addo, Assistant Coach John Paintsil, and Goalkeepers Trainer Fatawu Dauda, narrowly avoided a head-on collision. A pickup truck reportedly veered into the Land Cruiser’s lane, resulting in some damage to the vehicle.
Fortunately, all three members of the technical team are in stable condition. The GFA has assured the public that as a precautionary measure, the coaches will undergo further medical assessments upon their return to Accra.
This incident comes at a crucial time for the Black Stars, as they prepare for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. The GFA expressed confidence that the technical team will be fully recovered and ready to lead the national team in these pivotal matches.
The GFA also expressed its gratitude for the concern shown by the public and called for continued support and prayers as the Black Stars gear up for these important fixtures.
