Enioluwa Adeoluwa, a Nigerian influencer and content producer, has stated that “fame without money is the worst thing that can happen to you.”
Speaking at the Pulse Influencer Summit 2024, Enioluwa emphasised the risks of pursuing virality without a defined plan or financial support, advising influencers to create brands that attract long-term commercial collaborations.
Enioluwa was joined by other cast members from the hit Nigerian sitcom All of Us, including Eronini, Tobe Ugeh, Beauty, Soft Made It, and Nimiie, for a panel discussion on the difference between content production and influencer marketing.
The discussion, led by radio and television star Olele Salvador, discussed understanding content production, influencer marketing, and the problems of balancing popularity and profitability.
“The eagerness for virality is a problem,” Enioluwa stated. “Many individuals would do anything to get viral, such as rolling in gutters, but what sort of branding is that? “What brand would want to associate with that?”
He said, “Fame without money is the worst thing that can happen to you. You do not want to be popular and impoverished. You’ll be too humiliated to work a regular job because everyone knows you. That is why it is critical to create a brand that marketers want to invest in.
Enioluwa stressed the need of approaching influencer marketing as a professional vocation with a defined goal and aim.
“This is a job; it is work. There is a reason why you dress or present yourself in a specific way. It’s not about getting up and wanting to do something crazy for attention, such as rolling down the gutter. “You need a goal.”He warned against pursuing viral moments without a strategy, stating, “If you’re just hoping for a viral video to make you famous without any plan, you’ll end up with fame but no money.”
