A fire at Parliament’s Job 600 building damaged the first-floor Members Centre. Staff were safely evacuated, and firefighters are working to control the blaze.
The High Street Journal is learning that parts of Parliament’s Job 600 building has been gutted by fire.

The Job 600 edifice serves as offices for the lawmakers as well as conference centers.

According to information gathered by The High Street Journal, the fire which started on Tuesday morning has razed down the Members Centre on the first floor of the building.

All staff members have been safely evacuated and have been further asked to close for the day.

Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service with three fire engines are currently on site to help douse the fire. The cause of the fire is not immediately known.
Although the extent of damage is yet to be established, it has become apparent that unplanned resources will be needed to repair the damage at the time the country is running a very tight budget given the precarious economic situation.

The edifice is estimated to cost about US$ 100 million.
