Government Treating Galamsey Fight as an Emergency – Lands Minister

Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, assuring Ghanaians that the issue is being treated with the highest level of urgency.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, Buah underscored the government’s relentless efforts to curb the menace and restore the country’s natural resources.

“We are treating the matter as an emergency. We’re working around the clock, 24 hours a day. These matters must be dealt with all the urgency and emergency they deserve,” he stated.

He emphasized President Mahama’s dedication to addressing the galamsey crisis, noting that significant progress is already being made. Buah expressed confidence in the government’s strategy, assuring citizens that every necessary measure is being implemented to combat the problem effectively.

“As a Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, I can tell the people of Ghana that we are dealing with this matter with all the emergency measures, all the urgency, the seriousness, and that they can be assured that we will be relentless and we will win the fight,” he declared.
