Felix Kwakye Ofosu Vows to Combat Misinformation, Uphold Transparency in Government Communications

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister-Designate for Government Communications, has vowed to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency in his role, firmly rejecting the spread of misinformation and disinformation. During his vetting on Friday, January 31, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized his commitment to honesty, truth, and accountability as the guiding principles of his political career and approach to government communication.

A Commitment to Truth and Accountability
Kwakye Ofosu began his address by outlining his personal philosophy as a politician, describing himself as a person of deep conviction. He stated that he carefully considers his positions and stands by them unless presented with verifiable evidence to the contrary.

“I am a person of conviction, and when I take positions, I consider them carefully. Once I take them, unless I am shown verifiable evidence that I am wrong, I stick to them. Often, it may rub off on some people negatively or wrongly, but to the extent that I know it is the right thing to do, I stick to it,” he said.

He added, “And so, I am not going to be an outlet for churning out misinformation or disinformation to deceive the people.”

Focus on Serving the Public Interest
Kwakye Ofosu acknowledged that his steadfast approach might not always resonate positively with everyone. However, he stressed that his primary concern is doing what is right and serving the interests of the people, reflecting a strong commitment to ethical governance and responsible communication, which are critical in fostering trust between the government and the public.

Praise for President Mahama’s Leadership
During his vetting, Kwakye Ofosu also commended President John Dramani Mahama’s administration for its commitment to honesty and transparency. He described the President’s leadership as exemplary, noting that it would go down in history as one of the most honest administrations Ghana has ever seen.
