National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, has voiced strong disapproval of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leadership approach, alleging that political bias has led to the neglect of various communities.

In a Facebook post following a tour across 14 constituencies in Ghana’s Central Region, Mahama expressed concern over the state of development, noting that many communities have been sidelined due to “petty partisan political reasons.”

Mahama criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for what he described as a failure to address the developmental needs of areas that did not politically align with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a situation he says is harming the well-being and prospects of these citizens.

Reflecting on his tour, Mahama shared the frustration of local residents, stating that these communities face considerable barriers in accessing basic infrastructure, healthcare, education, and essential services, allegedly due to political biases.

“After touring fourteen (14) constituencies in the Central Region so far, I cannot help but join the chiefs and people in condemning the neglect of our communities for petty partisan political reasons, as President Akufo-Addo himself has stated.”

“It pains me to see our cherished communities grappling with the neglect of crucial development projects vital for their growth and well-being.”

Mahama questioned the rationale behind what he sees as exclusionary governance, arguing that leadership should serve all citizens equally, regardless of political affiliation.

“How does a government ignore the needs of the people it governs, seemingly punishing communities for their democratic choices in voting for the NDC and electing its parliamentary candidates?”

“This is not just a political issue but a matter of justice and accountability. Every citizen, regardless of their political allegiance, deserves to have their voices heard and their needs addressed.”

He went on to assert that all Ghanaians are entitled to benefit from government programs and initiatives, stressing that the state has a duty to serve every citizen and prioritize services that uplift communities.

“As I have done before when I was president and will lead this country to achieve again, development shall be a right for all, not a privilege for a few. The NDC administration of John Mahama and Naana Jane will ensure the progress of our communities and meet your needs, and I promise that no community will be left behind.”
