In a significant administrative shake-up, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has formally revoked the appointment of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng as the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF).

The decision takes immediate effect, as stated in a letter from the Office of the President dated January 13, 2025. The revocation letter, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, directed Mr. Koranteng to hand over his responsibilities to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson.

Dr. Forson has been tasked with overseeing the operations of the MIIF until a substantive CEO is appointed. “The President extends his gratitude for your service to the nation,” the letter stated, reflecting an acknowledgment of Mr. Koranteng’s contributions during his tenure.

The Minerals Income and Investment Fund plays a critical role in managing Ghana’s mineral royalties and investments for sustainable national development. This leadership change underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the Fund operates effectively and aligns with its strategic objectives.
