Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama, has made a compelling case for his re-election in the upcoming December 7 polls. The former President cited that Ghana requires a leader with experience to tackle its economic difficulties, rather than someone who is untested.

During a community engagement in Juapong, located in the Volta Region, Mahama outlined the next NDC administration’s dedication to prioritizing youth development. He encouraged the youth to accept money if offered by politicians but stressed the importance of making the right decision at the polls by voting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power.

“Before the election, they will come with plenty of money, when they come, I beg you, take your thing back. But on the day when you go to the ballot box, remember the eight years of suffering, remember the eight years of hunger, remember the eight years of poverty and vote for the government and the president that will come and turn this nation around,” Mahama urged.

Reflecting on past promises, he noted, “In 2016, they said, oh try me and if in four years I don’t do well, you can vote me out. The same thing Jack Toronto’s younger brother is saying. He too says, try me, and after four years, if I don’t do well, you can vote me out but the youth of this country do not have the time to try anybody again.”

He concluded by asserting that what Ghana needs now is a leader with proven experience. “What we need is an experienced hand who has handled this country before and whose work we have seen. And so we are not going to try anybody. We are going back to experience, we are going back to expertise to turn our country around so that our youth can have a brighter future.”
